Anna Mae (Stamm) Weishapl, age 100, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, in Olathe, Kansas.

Anna Mae was born on May 5, 1926, to Roy and Erma (McEvoy) Stamm in Benkelman, Nebraska. She was the second of three children.

Anna Mae attended country school and high school in Benkelman, graduating in 1943, as valedictorian of her class. After graduating she taught in three rural schools for nine years.

Anna Mae married Raymond Kisela in 1948 and added Vicki Sue in October. They made their home on a farm north of Stratton, Nebraska. Raymond was tragically killed by lightning in 1949.

Anna Mae then went to cosmetology school in Hastings, Nebraska. After completing her schooling, she opened a beauty shop in Benkelman.

On August 9, 1955, Anna Mae married Francis Weishapl. They made their home on the family farm west of Herndon, Kansas. Francis adopted Vicki into their family. A girl and two boys were also born into the family.

Anna Mae loved the outdoors, gardening, raising chickens and helping Francis with farm activities. She was an avid seamstress and cook. She was a member of St. Mary's Christian Mothers Altar Society, holding the office of president, and taught CCD class.

Anna Mae worked outside the home as a clerk in the Herndon Post Office; a hairdresser in Atwood; and started and operated The Fabric Yard in Atwood for five years. She took an accounting class and became secretary of the Atwood Cheese Plant. Anna Mae then took a job as bookkeeper/teller at the State Bank of Atwood.

Anna Mae and Francis moved to Atwood in 1977. She retired in 1996. She was known to jokingly say, “I was a jack-of-all trades but master-of-none. ha!”

Anna Mae enjoyed activities with her kids and attending grandchildren’s school activities. During her retirement she joined New Horizons Extension Club; Scrappy Gals Quilt Guild; Red Hat Chicks; a domino group and continued to be active in CMAS. She really enjoyed the bus tours she took with friends to all parts of the U.S. Her hobbies included: quilting, wool applique, crocheting, knitting, cross stitch, sudoku, puzzles and reading.

Preceding her in death were husbands, Raymond and Francis; parents, Roy and Erma Stamm; brothers Roy Jr “Bud” and wife Mildred and Joe; son-in-law Stephen Finley; grandchildren, Jared Denning, Chelsie and Cody Weishapl; sisters/brothers-in-law Elmer (Doris), Magdalen (Rudy, Tony), Florence (John), Helen (Loren), Linus (Rosemary), Jerry, and Louise (Bob).

Anna Mae is survived by her children, Vicki Denning, Anita (Jerry) Schnee, Dan (Cindy), and Tom (Mary); sister-in-law Sandy (Jerry) Weishapl; grandchildren, Jeff, Jarett (Allie) and Jason Finley, Natasha (Ryan) Flora, Bethany Weishapl and Cameron (Kathleen) Weishapl; great-grandchildren, Hadley and Megan Flora, Shelby Weishapl and Bodhi and Noelle Finley.

Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2026, at Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Atwood on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., with a Rosary preceding mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Atwood.
