Betty Louise Wolfe, 94, passed away, August 1, 2026, 12:08 p.m. Mountain Time, at Hope Springs, Sharon Springs, Kansas. She was born, Betty Louise Finley, on March 14, 1932, to Floyd and Sylvia (Jones) Finley, in Goodland, Kansas. She attended Edson school, Edson Kansas, in her elementary years. She started Brewster school, Brewster, Kansas, when she went into her high school years. There she met Jerald Edwin “Cork" Wolfe. They were married on May 20, 1950. They started their lives together on the Jess and Charity Finley homestead, 1½ miles west of Brewster, Kansas. There they raised three daughters, Gloria Jean, Micki Sue, and Lila Marie. Betty was a loving wife and mother and devoted her life to her family and her community. She was a Girl Scout Leader, while her girls were growing up. Along with helping on the farm beside her husband, Jerald.
Since Betty loved being a historian of Brewster families and was one of the family genealogists, later on in her life she went to work for the Brewster Museum and Librarian, in Brewster, Kansas. As a young girl she and her family went to Pleasant Home Church and later in life she went to the Levant Church, Levant Kansas and when driving became harder she went to the Brewster Community Church. She was saved as a young girl.
She is survived by: daughters Micki "Wolfe" (Tim) Goossen, Brewster, Kansas, and Lila "Wolfe" (Kenneth/Spike) Engelhardt, Colby, Kansas. Grandchildren: Leslie "Mathis" (Randy) Anglin, Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Katrina "Goossen" (Chris) Cooper, Bartlett, Tennessee, Constance "Goossen" Nicks, Kenai, Alaska. Great Grandchildren: Jackie "Ballmann" (Daniel) Zalava, Jonathan Cordell (Taylor) Ballmann, Aedreena "Nicks" (Will) Olsen, Giaseena Nicks, Logan Nicks, Quinton Nicks, Sophia Cooper, Finley Cooper. Great-Great Grandchildren: Mia Zavala, Salvador "Chava" Zavala, Alejandera "Cass" Zavala, Deacon Olsen, Madison Rose Marie Olsen, Molly Jane Ballmann. Her sister, Carolyn Sue "Finley" (Jim) Baird, nephews, nieces, and great nieces and nephews as well as many friends and loved ones.
Preceding her in death: her husband, Jerald Wolfe, her daughter Gloria Tiedeman, of Siloam Springs Arkansas, her baby son, Roger August Wolfe, her grandparents, Orvil and Ella "Hollenbeck" Jones, her parents Floyd and Sylvia Finley, grandsons Jonathan Eugene Engelhardt, Jehue Leroy "JL" Mathis and granddaughter Naomi Ruth Mathis. Her brother, Gerald Lee Finley, and her brother-in-law Jim Baird.
We would like to thank everyone at Hope Springs and Wheat Haven for the great care they gave our mom, especially Shelly Woolf. For helping us through this time of need.
Funeral service will be Friday, August 7, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. CT at the Brewster Community Church, 511 3rd Street, Brewster. Interment will follow the service at the Brewster Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Brewster Community Church prior to the service on Friday, from 9 to 10 a.m. CT.
