Just past 8 am on Monday, July 13, two vehicles collided on a Thomas County Road, leaving one of the two drivers with serious injuries.
A 2009 Ford F250 Super Duty, driven by 57-year-old Dawn Nichols of Colby, Kansas, was headed eastbound on County Road F, while a 2005 GMC Sierra 2500, driven by 58-year-old David Charles of Oakley, Kansas, was headed southbound on County Road 32.
Charles failed to yield and stuck the Ford on its side. Charles in the GMC spun into the south ditch facing north. Nichols in the Ford overturned an unknown number of times, ejecting the driver in the process.
Charles had no apparent injury, while Nichols was transported to Citizens Medical Center with suspected serious injuries. Charles wore a safety restraint while Nichols did not.
