Sherman County Community Foundation Update, Building Up to Match Day

Every Friday on the Good Neighbor Hour will be "Foundation Friday", where we visit with someone with a local community foundation. For the first ever Foundation Friday, we wanted to visit with the local foundation, the Sherman County Community Foundation.
The Sherman County Community Foundation does amazing work to raise money for certain funds as well as providing a scholarship opportunity for local students. Tina Wolak, Executive Director for the foundation, hopped on the Good Neighbor Hour to go through all that they do and things coming up for SCCF.
Firstly, Wolak mentioned that it's currently a pretty low-key time for the foundation. Right now, their main focus is taking donations, creating funds, and getting things ready for this years' Match Day.
On the topic of Match Day, last year's was pretty successful in the words of Wolak, and the numbers don't lie.
"We had over $220,000 given in one day...with our match and other matches from the Patterson Family Foundation and Dane G. Hansen Foundation we were able to raise nearly $500,000."
Tina also talked about the scholarship opportunity that high school seniors can apply for through the foundation called the Brianna Linin Memorial Scholarship. Below is a snip-it of information about this scholarship from the SCCF website.
The Brianna Linin Memorial Scholarship was established to remember Brianna Danae Linin, a precious USD352 Goodland kindergartner who lost her battle to an aggressive form of brain cancer in March of 2005. She was a very normal five-year-old, but special too in many ways. She was a fun, friendly girl with giant blue eyes, curly hair and a smile that melted your heart.
Lastly on the show, they discussed different ways you can create a fund. Anyone and everyone can make a fund that can be either dedicated to someone or something, a club, activity, or anything along those lines.
"If you can think of someone to pay tribute to or in memorial of and find something that they liked or loved to do, it can be payed out in their memory forever."
