“Ludell Renew & Revitalize” is comprised of a group of individuals committed to renewing and revitalizing the small town of Ludell in Rawlins County.  We feel Ludell has much potential and we are working toward making it a more inviting and welcoming community to live in and around. Though the scope of our endeavors includes a variety of projects, this first ever Ludell Drive-In Movie fundraiser will focus upon continuation of renewing the Ludell Schoolhouse.

The schoolhouse, which is owned by the Ludell township, was built in 1936 with P.W.A. funds. Built of Native stone under the construction eye of George Wendelin.  It was utilized as a school for Grades 1-8 from its construction until its closing in 1972.  Many students were educated here and following the closing of the school, the building has been used for family and community events. The lot you sit on holds a lot of history in itself. This was the site of of the Ludell baseball field where many well known competitive games and tournaments were played. Ludell was known for their great ball teams. If you look around you may even be able to find home plate that still sits preserved in the ground today.  As it has aged, it has developed areas that need attention.  We have a vision for this stable, historic building to become a community center that once again provides a safe, spacious, and inviting area to be open and accessible for a variety of activities.  We realize that this will take time and money to accomplish all that is necessary for our goals, but we have a team of enthusiastic community members who have been gathering to turn this vision into a reality.

Last fall, our Rawlins County Schools were able to benefit from our available gym space after their devastating fire. Even though it made for tough times for our community, it was rewarding to see much activity go on at our historic schoolhouse and we were more than grateful to open our doors for them!

Last September, our team hosted a family fun event at the schoolhouse to raise funds and awareness of our efforts.  It was well received, and the support of the community exceeded our expectations. This positive feedback has encouraged us to put on this family friendly drive-in movie event.

We have utilized past fundraisers in ways of restoring the gym floor, placing a new town sign, and are currently in construction of all new bathrooms.  Continued funds would be used for new windows, refreshed paint for the gym, kitchen renewal, plumbing and some town murals.

As we improve the overall condition of the facility, we feel its usage will become much more frequent, indicating our success.

We are very thankful for the outpouring of community support.  The generosity has been wonderful from all around!

All gate and food money goes to the Ludell School House
