Harvest for Kids Casino Night returns to Colby on Saturday, May 30, at City Limits Convention Center. The fundraiser for the Western Kansas Child Advocacy Center features a supper buffet, live auction, blackjack, Texas Hold 'Em, craps, roulette, and more. Doors open at 5 p.m. with gaming from 7 to 10 p.m. NWKS Radio's Joel Navarro will serve as emcee for the evening.

The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced approved bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects. The letting took place on May 20th in Topeka. Some of the bids may include multiple projects that have been bundled based on proximity and type of work.

Pioneer Memorial Library in Colby kicked off its 2026 Summer Learning Program Thursday with games, activities, family fun, and registration for the “Unearth a Story” summer challenge. Vickie Murline Bales, 65, of Colby, died Friday, May 22, 2026. She was born August 4, 1960, in Caldwell, ID, to Dickie and Peggy Jo (Young) Bales. At the age of 58, Vickie graduated with her Associates Degree in Management and Accounting.

On Friday, May 22nd, a little after 1:30 pm in Thomas County, two vehicles were traveling Southbound on Country Club Drive in Thomas County, when one vehicle tried passing the other, clipping the second vehicle, and causing a small accident.
