Alex Rosales, 53, of Colby, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2026. He was born May 29, 1972, in Tribune, KS, to Enrique and Linda (Soto) Rosales. Alex graduated from Lakin High School in 1990 and worked in Garden City, KS. On February 11, 1995, Alex married Amy Strecker, in Colby, KS and the couple lived in Hays, KS until they made their home in Colby in 1997. He worked at Hi-Plains Coop until he had to retire for medical reasons.
In his free time, Alex enjoyed bowling, golfing, collecting sports cards and going to card shows. He had fun going to casinos, traveling to Las Vegas and playing poker with friends. Above all, he loved his family and liked following his kids to their events and being “Papa” to his grandkids.
Alex was preceded in death by his father Enrique; sister Anna Rosales and brother Antonio Rosales.
He is survived by his wife Amy; children, Sam Hertel, Isabel (Clayton) Bange, Isaac Rosales, Ian Rosales, and Isaiah Rosales; grandchildren, Karsyn and Lainey Hertel and Braxton and Braden Bange; his mother Linda Rosales (Manuel Villa); sisters, Amanda Rosales and Angelica Cruz-Alvarado; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m., with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 25, 2026, at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. A Memorial Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colby, KS 67701.
