Thursday, August 27, 2026, the Goodland Community welcomed the Fort Hays Tech Northwest (FHTNW) students to town! The annual Goodland Main Street Crawl hosted by Sherman County Community Development (SCCD) each year along with all the local Goodland businesses.

Last night, the Annual Gem Hog Roast brought in hundreds to eat yummy food for a fundraiser for the Gem, KS community. The Gem Lions Club hosts this annual event at the Gem Community Building. Lots of picnic tables are set up outside, local music talent takes the stage to entertain, and many enjoyed a game of horseshoes. BBQ pork sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans, and homemade desserts were on the menu.

A beautiful Saturday morning for Goodland to show off its airport! The Goodland Runway Revelry was a hit! Lots of planes, tours, rides, and more took place on Saturday, August 22nd.

On Saturday, August 22, the Thomas County Sheriff's Office, Colby Fire Department, Colby EMS, Kansas Highway Patrol and more brought in their vehicles for kids and adults to check them out at the Colby Event Center Parking Lot. A chance for kids to learn more about the vehicles, to crawl around in them, and to meet the emergency personnel who operate them. There were also car seat safety checks, food trucks, and a helicopter landing!

The annual Sunflower Festival in downtown Colby took place Friday night and Saturday morning into the early afternoon! Another successful event that drew a big crowd with all the activities that took place. The Sunflower Festival is a branch off of the Colby/Thomas County Chamber and is ran by volunteers and organizations.

More than 280 people enjoyed night swimming, games, the popular Dad Cannonball Contest, a flamingo race benefiting Play 315, food, music, and prizes. The community fundraiser raised money for Colby's inclusive playground project while giving families one final splash before the pool closed for the season.
