Annual Gem Hog Roast a BIG Hit
Last night, the Annual Gem Hog Roast brought in hundreds to eat yummy food for a fundraiser for the Gem, KS community. The Gem Lions Club hosts this annual event at the Gem Community Building. Lots of picnic tables are set up outside, local music talent takes the stage to entertain, and many enjoyed a game of horseshoes.
BBQ pork sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans, and homemade desserts were on the menu.

Kids and Adults Alike Enjoyed Touch-A-Truck In Colby
On Saturday, August 22, the Thomas County Sheriff's Office, Colby Fire Department, Colby EMS, Kansas Highway Patrol and more brought in their vehicles for kids and adults to check them out at the Colby Event Center Parking Lot. A chance for kids to learn more about the vehicles, to crawl around in them, and to meet the emergency personnel who operate them.
There were also car seat safety checks, food trucks, and a helicopter landing!

NWKS Radio wrapped up the 2026 pool season with its Ultimate Pool Party at the Colby Aquatic Park on August 8. More than 280 people enjoyed night swimming, games, the popular Dad Cannonball Contest, a flamingo race benefiting Play 315, food, music, and prizes. The community fundraiser raised money for Colby's inclusive playground project while giving families one final splash before the pool closed for the season.
