Pioneer Memorial Library Kicks Off Summer Learning Adventure in Colby
Pioneer Memorial Library in Colby kicked off its 2026 Summer Learning Program Thursday with games, activities, family fun, and registration for the “Unearth a Story” summer challenge. Families packed the library throughout the day as kids celebrated the start of summer vacation. The library has a full summer schedule planned for all ages including storytimes, youth activities, book clubs, and educational programs.

Colby Play 315 Breaks Ground on New Inclusive Playground Project
Colby Play 315 officially broke ground Monday morning at the Colby Grade School playground as community members celebrated the start of Phase One of the inclusive playground project. Organizers also announced the project has reached 67% of its fundraising goal with more than $715,000 in donations and pledges. Construction begins this summer and is expected to be completed before the 2026-2027 school year.

Young Anglers Reel In Big Fun at Annual Free Kid’s Fishing Derby in Colby
More than 100 kids took part in the Annual Free Kid’s Fishing Derby at Villa High Park in Colby on May 9th. Families enjoyed fishing, free lunch, music from NWKS Radio, balloon animals, and community fun. The event was hosted through a partnership between the City of Colby, Thomas County Community Foundation, Colby Community College, Kiwanis of Colby, and the Western Kansas Outdoor Association.

Sunflower Summer Returns with Free Admission for Kansas Families
