Goodland City Commission July 20th Meeting Recap

The Goodland City Commission held their regular meeting on Monday, July 20th, so Goodland City Manager Kent Brown joined the Good Neighbor Hour to discuss important notes from the meeting.

The first item Brown covered included a resolution for a new stop sign at the intersection of 16th street and Wyoming Avenue. This was added due to the police chief reporting accidents at this intersection and would like them placed for public safety.

The next important item was a professional services agreement between the City of Goodland and Safe Build, LLC. This is for the plan review and is for an as-needed basis for the building official who would usually write up the plan review.

"With the grain mill and bakery or other commercial or industrial projects that may come in, the plan review gets much larger...with the grain mill...the plan set is going to be 600 to 700 pages long, so that's a little bit of work."

There were then a few discussion items, including a discussion with Sherman County Community Development, community survey results regarding electronic assisted vehicles, a discussion about the 2027 budget, and discussions about water conservation and the drought monitor.

The commission has set a public hearing for the 2027 budget for the September 8th meeting.

The last item Brown wanted to cover was the last Park n' Play concert which includes a free BBQ put on by the City of Goodland staff. This will be on August 14th and food will be served 5:30.

The next regular meeting for the Goodland City Commission will be on August 4th.
