Apollo MedFlight Launches New Air Ambulance Base in Colby

Apollo MedFlight, a leading air ambulance service that spans nationwide, has launched a new air ambulance base in Colby, increasing rapid response emergency transport services to residents throughout Kansas. The new base is the second Apollo MedFlight base to serve the Sunflower State. The first base went online in 2024 in Dodge City.

“In medical and traumatic emergencies, rapid transport can often be the difference between life and death,” explains Apollo Regional Business Development Director Steve Kahle. “Apollo MedFlight’s fixed wing aircraft now permanently based in Colby and Dodge City can be that difference when seconds count.”

Both the Colby and Dodge City bases have Apollo King Air 90s equipped similarly to an ICU/CCU with state-of-the-art medical technology, including ultrasound capabilities, comprehensive EPOC Blood Analysis Testing, and onboard blood and plasma products. The aircraft and Apollo clinical crew are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

“Not only are we forging great working relationships with area hospitals, but we also offer annual membership services for Kansas residents who would like to ensure a little peace of mind,” says Kahle. “For only $50 a year, everyone in the household will be covered for unlimited transports, as needed.”

Apollo MedFlight also offers custom-built educational classes for hospital staff and first-responding agencies.

“As an industry leader and one of only 159 air medical transport programs accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Services (CAMTS), Apollo sets the standard when it comes to emergency and non-emergency transport services,” says Kahle. “Continuous training helps us remain the best of the best, and we are proud to offer those educational opportunities to our regional partners.”
