Boating and Fishing Season is Underway, Here's Some Helpful Resources to Stay Safe



The bulk of summer is underway, so why not spend time out on the water? Boating and fishing are one of the most popular summertime activities to do out on the water, but to ensure the best experience possible, there are many precautions and regulations a person should follow regarding a day out at the lake.


When wanting to go out fishing, there are a few things you need to do before casting your first bait. First and foremost, for anyone above the age of 16, a fishing license in required. You can purchase these are various stores, wildlife parks, or online, and they usually last a full year from the date of purchase.

Boating is also another major summer activity that has many safety or legal regulations to keep in mind. For instance, possessing and consuming alcohol on a boat is not illegal, but driving a boat while under the influence is, just like driving any other motor vehicle. The last safety reminder is in regard to harmful algal blooms that you can find in lakes and other bodies of water. These blooms can cause a person to become very sick, so avoid them as much as possible. A day at the lake can be a fun way to relax or cool off during the warm summer months, but always make sure to be prepared for any activity you may partake in.
