Congressman Tracey Mann’s Legislative Focus Highlights Energy, Economy, and Kansas Priorities

In his latest update from Washington, U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) outlined an ambitious agenda as the House of Representatives resumed its session, touching on major national issues while emphasizing policies that directly impact rural Kansas.

Championing Rural Communities and Infrastructure

Congressman Mann underscored his ongoing efforts to strengthen infrastructure in rural Kansas through several legislative actions. This includes introducing the Expanding Regional Airports Act, a bill aimed at boosting funding for runway upgrades, new hangars, and other improvements critical to rural air transportation. As Mann noted, regional airports are lifelines for small communities and key to local economic development.

Additionally, Mann voted to support the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee’s budget reconciliation proposal, which would modernize the U.S. air traffic control system, increase coastal security funding, and eliminate wasteful federal spending. He proudly highlighted the bill’s alignment with former President Trump’s “America First” agenda.

Defending Small Businesses and Celebrating Economic Growth

During National Small Business Week, Mann praised Kansas entrepreneurs and reiterated his support for making the 2017 tax cuts permanent. With over 20,000 small businesses operating in the Big First District, Mann emphasized their critical role in the local economy. He warned that allowing those tax cuts to expire would place heavy burdens on family-run operations.

Mann also celebrated strong national job growth, with the U.S. economy adding 177,000 jobs in April—well above expectations. He credited President Trump’s policies for revitalizing the economy and reaffirmed the Republican commitment to continued growth and lower taxes.

Taking a Stand Against Overregulation

Representative Mann highlighted his efforts to roll back five Biden-era environmental mandates, including California’s controversial ban on gas-powered vehicles. Arguing that such regulations unfairly target rural families and businesses, Mann called for an “all-of-the-above” energy strategy that empowers states like Kansas to choose the best energy solutions for their communities.

Engaging With Kansas Constituents and Leaders

Throughout the month, Mann hosted and met with a wide range of stakeholders across Kansas and in Washington. Topics ranged from health care access with Salina Regional Health Center, to renewable fuels with Growth Energy, and higher education initiatives with leaders from Fort Hays State University, Washburn, and Kansas State University.

Discussions with Land O’Lakes, Cargill, and the Kansas Farmers Union emphasized the ongoing need to address workforce shortages, tax reform, and agricultural innovation through the upcoming Farm Bill.

He also met with the Kansas Aqueduct Coalition to discuss long-term solutions to water access and conservation in Western Kansas, particularly in relation to the Ogallala Aquifer.

Supporting Community Safety and Transparency

In addition to national security and economic matters, Mann voiced strong support for legislation that removes Chinese Communist Party-funded cultural centers from American college campuses. He also backed legislation to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, arguing it reflects the significant U.S. investment in protecting those waters.

Mann continued to push for greater transparency in pharmacy benefit management, aiming to support local pharmacies in rural areas struggling under unfair reimbursement practices.

Throughout the newsletter, Mann reiterated his dedication to serving Kansans, whether by assisting with federal agency requests, helping veterans navigate the VA, or arranging Capitol tours for visiting constituents.
