Fatal Crash Reported in Phillips County Saturday Afternoon

A tragic accident in Phillips County claimed the life of a Prairie View woman Saturday afternoon, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:03 p.m. on March 28 on West 1300 Road, about 1.4 miles south of U.S. Highway 36.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that a 2022 Subaru Forester, driven by 58-year-old Nancy Dee Vap of Prairie View, was traveling northbound when the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason and entered the west ditch. The vehicle then vaulted over a concrete culvert before coming to rest in the ditch, where it caught fire.
Vap sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased. She was transported to Hugunin Family Funeral Home. Authorities confirm that next of kin have been notified.
Officials say it is currently unknown whether the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
