Fort Hays Tech Northwest Tech Talk: New VR Units and More

It was another edition of Tech Talk on the Good Neighbor Hour, so Fort Hays Tech Northwest President Corey Isbell joined the show to talk about recent happenings with the college. Items covered includes an update about the current passive house project, new VR headsets on campus, and a couple of events coming up.

The first thing Isbel wanted to mention was an ag technology event that the college put on for high schoolers interested. He noted that there were over 100 high school students coming to visit their ag tech facilities and equipment.

Next, he talked about the passive house that college students are currently working on, located at 4th and Sherman. if anyone is interested in potentially buying the house when it is complete, they are now taking interest, so get ahold of the college.

The next item Isbel brought to talk about is extremely cool. The college received a grant that was used to by virtual reality (VR) headsets that can be applied to many different aspects throughout the school. He mentioned things like campus tours, virtual labs, practicing things like sorting medicine and other useful skills that can be done virtually and reduce possible risk of practicing in real life.

He also mentioned that the college is now taking enrollment for anyone interested in taking CNA classes. This can be a high schooler, a college student, or anyone else interested in becoming a CNA.

Next up, Isbel talked about events being hosted by the college or that the college participates in. Those included Flatlanders Festival coming up in late September, their golf tournament at Sugar Hills Golf Club September 12th, and a shooting sports event coming up as well.

The last topics of discussion included athletics updates like cross country results and a reminder that scrimmage season is coming up for the other sports at the college.
