Foundation Friday: Sherman County Community Development

It was another edition of Foundation Friday on the Good Neighbor Hour, so host Lucas Kenney invited Tina Wolak with the Sherman County Community Foundation on the show to discuss recent happenings within their organization.
The first item they talked about was in regard to the Third Quarter grant submission deadline. Applications for those grants are due by September 30th and they will be reviewed and announced towards the middle of October.
Next, Tina went into detail about their upcoming match day on December 1st! This is one of their most anticipated days all year. They set up at the Price Convention Center in Goodland with many different non-profit organizations as well.
People can come by and visit with these organizations and make a donation if they so please. A lot of these donations will then be matched by other organizations to add even more impact to the day. Last year's Match Day ended in nearly $500,000 raised after the matches, and Tina would love to surpass that this year.
The last discussion topic between Kenney and Wolak was about a fund focused towards helping local business owners. This fund was created with the intent to distribute to business owners who move to the area as a kind of thank you for choosing to bring their business to Sherman County.
To find more information about creating a fund, donating to a fund, or other information regarding the foundation, you can visit their webiste at shermanccf.org.
