Fred Page Waters
Fred Page Waters, 90, of McDonald, KS, died on March 8, 2026. He was born on May 21, 1935, in St. Francis, KS to Lloyd and Ione (Page) Waters. Fred was blessed with four sisters: Janetta, Jeneva, Bonnie, and Dolly.
Fred was married to Carol Vanlaningham on March 13, 1955. They had two children, Lloyd Blake Waters and Jeana Rae Penny. In 1972, Fred married LaVina Andrews and combined their families. They were blessed to have five children in their blended family. They now have 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
For 32 years, Fred was a 3rd generation farmer. When that part of his life was over, he became a very successful certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor in the NW Kansas area. In addition to substance abuse counseling, he offered a variety of assistance in marriage counseling, Family counseling, Reality Therapy and Farm Crisis Counseling.
For many years, Fred traveled from McDonald to St. Francis, Atwood, Colby, Goodland and many towns in between to meet with his clients at all hours of the day and night, seven days a week.
In 2007, Fred received the Andrew O’Donavan Award of Excellence in Alcohol Addiction Prevention. As the 12-step program in AA always refers to a higher power, Fred was quick to indicate that the higher power was Jesus.
Fred was a man of great faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and was faithfully supported in this by his wife of 50 years, LaVina.
Fred is survived by his children and their families, Blake Waters of Wichita, KS, Jeana (Kevin) Penny of Burlington, CO, Kathy (Rick) Frisbee of Manhattan, KS, Kurt Andrews of Corvallis, OR. Also, Fred is survived by his wonderful nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife LaVina; his siblings; daughter-in-law, Kathryn Waters; daughter Becky Nelson and great-grandaughter Ava Parshall.
