Goodland City Commission August 17th Meeting Recap

Goodland City Manager Kent Brown joined the Good Neighbor Hour to discuss the latest Goodland City Commission meeting, including items like filling the commission vacancy, chip seal projects, and the new electric scooter ordinance.

The first item Brown brought to the interview was about the vacancy that was left on the commission. There were two applicants that presented to the commission for their potential filling of the spot. At the next City Commission meeting, they will motion and approve of one of them to fill the vacancy.

The next item that was discussed was about the new edits to an ordinance which adds restrictions on electric scooters. These edits were passed at the August 17th meeting. You can read more information about this new ordinance in the article linked below.

A new drug and alcohol policy for public transportation drivers was adjusted at the meeting as well. City Manager Brown mentioned that there were a couple of changes.

"The federal rules that provide funding for that, say that we have to have a drug and alcohol policy for the drivers...there was some changes to it and that's why it was on the agenda.

There were a few discussion items, including one about an unfit structure, which they have contacted the property owner about. They also talked about the 8th Street project and they had a budget discussion once again.

The last item City Manager Brown wanted to highlight was the chip seal projects that just got completed last week. He mentioned that the last step of the process, which is a fine mist that will get put over the roads, will happen in about a month.

The next regular meeting for the Goodland City Commission will be on Monday, September 7th.
