Goodland USD 352 Update: Latest BOE Meeting and Fall Sports Coming to a Close

Superintendent of USD 352 Goodland Schools Bill Biermann joined Lucas Kenney on the Good Neighbor Hour to discuss the latest board of education meeting that was held on Monday, October 26th, as well as recapping how the fall sports season went.
First off, going through the agenda from the BOE meeting, they had a couple of presentations. The first from SC4 Daycare, giving a presentation regarding a potential partnership with the school district. The other presentation was from USD 352 Food Service Director Cynthia Smith. She presented on the challenges they face sometimes and gave updates on anything regarding food services.
Next, there were reports from Kat Franklin, the Fort Hays Tech Northwest Board Rep for the BOE, Stacy Price, the NKESC Board Rep for the BOE, and Superintendent Biermann. There wasn't much to note from these reports.
Discussion items had a few things of note, including a discussion with a Senior at Goodland Jr/Sr High School about graduating early. Whenever a senior wishes to graduate early, and the principal confirms that their credits are in line to do so, they need to present to the board what their plans are. They are very happy for this student and are very proud of her accomplishments.
Another discussion item was in regards to vehicle bids. One of the problems the district had come across was a lack of vehicles for staff usage. The board made the decision to purchase a vehicle strictly for district staff members to use for business trips.
The last discussion item was about the Gullick Family Grant, which is being used to purchase new wireless microphones for the music program and other uses.
There were two executive sessions, but no action was to come from them and the matters discussed are confidential.
Their next board of education meeting will be on November 9th beginning at 6 pm.
The last thing Kenney and Biermann discussed was a small recap of the fall sports that have ended and the football team who made it to the playoffs. The golf team had a great showing at state with a 5th place finish from Nataley Cure, the cross-country team ended their season at regionals, the volleyball team finished their season at substate in Beloit, and the football team has made it to bracket play.
