Injury Crash Reported on I-70 Near Oakley

An injury crash was reported Tuesday morning, July 29th, on Interstate 70 in Gove County, just one mile east of Oakley.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 9:08 a.m. on the westbound off-ramp at milepost 76. A 2018 Chevy Cruze, traveling westbound, left the roadway and struck a road closure sign. The vehicle sustained damage and was removed from the scene by S and M Repair. The crash was investigated by Trooper K481.

The driver, identified as 17-year-old Luis Mario Gonzalez Perez of Great Bend, Kansas, was wearing a seatbelt and reported no apparent injuries.

A passenger in the vehicle, 18-year-old Marissa Ann Esparza, also of Great Bend, was transported to Logan County Hospital with suspected minor injuries. She was also wearing a safety restraint at the time of the crash.
