Kit Carson County CO Sheriff's Department Warns of Possible Scammers in the Area

Thursday evening on September 10th, the Kit Carson County Sheriff's Department went to their Facebook page to warn about a seemingly fake "paving crew" going around the area offering their services. These crews, when confronted, couldn't give a company name, was threatening patrons if questioned, and not providing the services they advertised.
Below is the full statement from the Facebook post:
"On Wednesday evening the Sheriff’s Office had several contacts with a paving crew both east of Burlington and south of Stratton. It was then discovered today that they had also been in the Flagler area earlier in the day. This crew was randomly going to residences in the county and offering gravel/road base on behalf of the wind farm. The residents were then presented with a contract to sign. Trucks then arrived with asphalt and not gravel and they began paving the designated area at the residence. During our second contact with them late last night we discovered a multitude of issues to determine that this crew was targeting elderly people and were even willing to go as far as threatening them into making payment when questioned about the asphalt. This is an ongoing investigation and we are asking that anyone who received paving services yesterday contact the sheriff’s office. I would also advise that if you wrote this crew a check to cancel that check immediately. This is not a legitimate business.
We did discover tonight that there is a legitimate paving business operating in the county as well. Prestige Asphalt Services LLC.
The crew we encountered last night could not give us a company name. As always if it seems suspicious, give us a call and we will come out and check on things."
