Large Fire Near Kansas-Colorado Border Briefly Closed Highway 36


Over the weekend a large wildfire broke out in Yuma County, Colorado and spread to the Kansas border near Cheyenne County.


On Saturday evening, Yuma County Emergency Management warned residents of a large wildfire near Idalia, Colorado, close to the Yuma-Cheyenne county line. The Idalia School was opened as a fire safety building.


A little later in the evening, it was announced that a portion of Highway 36 would be closed from the intersection of US 385 to the State border.


Crews were able to control the flames later in the night and Highway 36 was reopened at Midnight on Sunday, April 12.
