Oakley boys wrestling sending 2 to state



The Oakley Plainsmen will be sending 2 boys to state wrestling on Feb. 28 in Hays, KS at the Gross Memorial Coliseum.


Senior Carter Krier finishe the regular season at 36-1, and took first at the regional tournament in Cimarron. He recieved a first round bye, then Defeate Chapparal's Aaron Zacarius by fall. In the semifinal he defated Atwood's Ryan Sramek by technical fall 19-4 to earn a trip to the final. In the championship match Krier defeated St. Francis' Shane Todd by decision 9-4 to punch his ticket to state at 138 pounds.



The second Plainsmen was Brody Beckman who finished in 3rd place after defeating Chapparal's Payton Haley by decisioin 5-3. Then he lost to Hoxie's Chase Meyer by major decision 16-6 sending him to the backside of the bracket. In the consolation semifinal Beckman defeated Leoti's Jose Magadan by fall. Then in the consolation final he lost to Hill City's Alexnder Hamel to finish in fourth place at 132 pounds.



Maddox Hubert, Aaron Samuelson, Rexx Eberle, and Jett Wolf participated in the regional tournament in Cimarron, but were unable to secure a spot in the state tournament.
