Richard Buhler was born on November 2, 1939, in Trenton, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Amy Buhler, and his brothers Larry and Dean Buhler. He passed away on June 4, 2026, and is survived by his three children Mark Buhler, Brad Buhler, and Sarah Seidenberg, as well as his son-in-law Jared Seidenberg, and grandsons Asher and Dylan Seidenberg. He is also survived by his sister, Connie Bailey, as well as his beloved Delores Rahe. Upon graduating high school, Dick spent time serving overseas in the United States Navy. When he returned, he managed and then bought Ace hardware store in Atwood, KS. Eventually he took a position with the U.S. Postal Service and spent years delivering mail in Oberlin, KS. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. He was involved in many community organizations, and he was a volunteer fire fighter. He and his brother Dean had a passion for old cars and he built a 1939 Chevy Coupe from the ground up. He spent many years and fun times showing that car and became a member of the Road Knights car club, where he was fondly considered everyone’s “Uncle Dick.” He was dearly loved by his nieces and nephews.

He had a sense of morality that you just don’t see in people as often these days. He was truly one of a kind. He was hard working, honest, ethical, fair, and kind. He was very loving. Those of us who loved him were so lucky. We could count on him, no matter the circumstance. He was immensely funny, and a darn good poker player. He loved gardening and plants in general and had a green thumb. He was intelligent in world affairs and human nature. He will be dearly missed by many.

A memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood, followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery, Atwood.
