School Spotlight: Updates from USD 105 Rawlins County

On the Good Neighbor Hour, host Lucas Kenney likes to spotlight area schools throughout Northwest Kansas. This week, it's USD 105 Rawlins County Schools, so Superintendent Eric Stoddard joined the show to talk about the start of the school year, progress on their school renovation, and how fall sports have gone so far.

First off, Kenney asked Stoddard how the beginning of the school year has gone, and he immediately had a positive response. One thing he mentioned was how enrollment was down slightly, somewhere around 4-5 kids, but it still looks great for the district.

The next topic they covered was in regards to the new personal electronic devices ban, and when asked about it, Stoddard said that it has one smoothly so far. They already had their own policy implemented before the new law, so it hasn't been much of a change.

Now the biggest topic of the interview came up, which is the reconstruction of their school. Progress has gone nicely for them, and they are hoping with the progression, they will be in the newly done building by next school year. Some highlights include the completion of the AG and art facilities, the near completion of the elementary portion of the school, and a large milestone for the high school portion of the building.

Lastly, Kenney and Stoddard talked a little bit about fall sports. Superintendent Stoddard said that they have been off to a great start, including the football team with great wins, the volleyball team showing great improvement, as well as the golf team and cross country teams also having good starts to their seasons.

Overall, things are pointing towards another great year at USD 105 in Rawlins County!
