September 21st Goodland City Commission Meeting Recap

Goodland City Manager Kent Brown joined the Good Neighbor Hour for his usual recap of the latest City Commission meeting. Items they covered during this interview includes a couple of presentations, a small resolution, a couple of formal actions, discussion items, and others.

First off, City Manager Brown talked about a couple of presentations given to the commission, including one about water playas and the other regarding a review of the KOMA from City Attorney Jake Kling.

Next, there was a small resolution regarding the application for a KDOT grant for the 8th street project. They have already received grants from this program before, so the commission discussed and decided to apply for one again.

A couple of formal actions then took place, one of which was a re-appointment of John Topliff to the airport board. The other was an amendment regarding vehicle use by the City Manager in the City Manager Employment Agreement.

The last item of note from the meeting was some discussion items, including a follow-up with the 8th Street project, a large discussion regarding feedback from the new electric assisted vehicles ordinance, as well as additional renderings for the water tower design. There will be a survey sent out soon regarding what design the community would prefer on the water tower.

Brown had one other thing he wanted to mention which was about the golf tournament last weekend that raised $18,000 for the Police Department and their purchase of a drone. That was a large fundraiser for them, but they still have a little ways to go.

The next regular meeting for the Goodland City Commission will be on Monday, October 5th.
