“There’s No Place Like Home”: CCC Scholarship Auction Set for March 28

Spring has arrived in northwest Kansas, and with it comes a packed weekend of activity in Colby, Kansas. From spring sports to community events, there’s plenty happening—but one event in particular is bringing excitement, energy, and a meaningful purpose all under one roof.

The Colby Community College Endowment Foundation is gearing up for its annual Scholarship Benefit Auction, set for March 28 at the Colby Event Center. This year’s theme, “There’s No Place Like Home,” promises a fun and immersive evening inspired by the beloved world of Oz.

Months of planning have gone into transforming the venue into something special. According to Lynette Andregg, the theme was chosen for both its familiarity and its creative potential.

“It’s going to be so awesome,” Andregg said during a recent radio interview. “We have phenomenal banners, a wind tunnel, people dressed up—it’s just going to be a full experience.”

The evening kicks off with doors opening at 5 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner starting around 5:30. Guests will have time to browse and bid in the silent auction before the live auction begins at 7 p.m. Throughout the night, attendees can take part in both traditional and tech-friendly bidding options. After registering, guests receive a bidder number and QR code, allowing them to easily track and complete purchases—whether at the event or later from home.

The auction will feature a wide variety of items, all made possible through generous community support.

“We have wonderful items and wonderful donors,” Andregg noted.

Tickets are available now, priced at $65 per person or $500 for a table of eight. Those interested can purchase tickets by calling the Endowment Foundation office at 785-460-5482 or by visiting the college or foundation’s website and social media pages.

While the evening is designed to be fun and memorable, the mission behind it is what truly matters. Every dollar raised goes toward scholarships for students at Colby Community College, helping support the next generation as they pursue their education and career goals.

“We are here to support students who are furthering their careers,” Andregg said. “It’s very important to us to be part of the college’s growth.”

With a meaningful cause, a creative theme, and a full night of entertainment, the Scholarship Benefit Auction is shaping up to be one of the highlights of the season. And as the theme suggests, there really is no place like home—especially when a community comes together to support its students
