Thomas County Burn Ban Temporarily Lifted

From the Office of the Thomas County Emergency Management Director

Thomas County Emergency Management Director David Becker met with Chairman Mike Baughn and local fire department chiefs to review the current burn ban.

Chairman Baughn has approved a temporary lift of the burn ban through 5:00 PM on Friday, May 8, 2026. After that time, the burn ban will be reinstated and enforced.

Residents planning a controlled burn must notify Colby Emergency Communications at 785-460-4460 and their local fire department in advance:

City of Brewster Fire Department: 785-694-8114

City of Colby Fire Department: 785-460-4454

City of Gem Fire Department: 785-269-7378

City of Rexford Fire Department: 785-269-7698
