Thomas County Sheriff's Office Warns of Scam

The Thomas County Sheriff's Office has come out and warned of a recurring scam in the area.

A number is calling posing as the Thomas County Sheriff's Office and claiming that an individual has missed federal jury duty. This is a scam. The Sheriff's Office will never call you about federal warrants.

The Thomas County Sheriff's Office left some reminders on their Facebook page:

Please remember:

• DO NOT give out any personal information.

• If you are unsure if it is a scam call, hang up and call the Sheriff's Office directly.

• If you receive one of these calls, do not engage and do not give them any information. Hang up immediately.

• Report any suspicious activity to the Thomas County Sheriff’s Department.
