Bomb Threat Investigation at Goodland Walmart

Press Release from the Goodland Police Department
On April 29. 2026, at approximately 2:27 pm (mountain time), an unidentified individual contacted the Walmart in Goodland and reported multiple pipe bombs inside the store, threatening to detonate them.
The Goodland Police Department resonded along with the Sherman County Sheriff's Office, Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, Kansas Highway Patrol, Goodland Rural Fire Department, Shermany County EMS, Goodland Public Works, Goodland Electrical Department, and Black Hills Energy. The store was safely evacuated, and no injuries or related incidents were reported.
As a precaution, roads surrounding Walmart were temporarily closed during the incident. The Goodland Police Department requested assistance from the Kanas Highway Patrol Special resonse Canine Team. Canine unites conduected a thorough search of the premises, and no suspicious devices were located.
This incident remains under active investigation. The Goodland Police Department is aware of similar threats reported at Walmart locations in other states.
