A Mystery… With Plenty of Comedy

The play centers around the eccentric dowager Miss Maple, played by Emily Hrabe, who invites several mystery writers to a remote island for what begins as a game but quickly turns into a real-life murder mystery. With colorful characters, quick dialogue, and unexpected twists, the audience will be left guessing -- and laughing -- as the story unfolds.

Students Take the Spotlight

Several student actors joined Navarro on-air to talk about the play and what it’s like to prepare for a live performance.

Jackson Foster, who plays detective Louie Fan, joked that memorizing lines mostly comes down to repetition and practice.

“We read over our lines a lot in class, then try to act it out without them,” Foster explained. “It’s really just practice, practice, practice.”

Other cast members visiting the studio included:

  • Kaden Riedel as Rick Carlyle

  • Axtyn Teeter as Father White

  • Griffin Beckman as Chandler Marlow

The students shared that one of the biggest lessons from theater is learning to work together and keep the show moving even when things don’t go exactly as planned.

“You just have to keep rolling,” one actor said. “If someone misses a line or says something out of order, you can’t stop... you just keep going.”

Balancing rehearsal with schoolwork and responsibilities at home - including farm work - was another challenge the students mentioned, but one they said was worth it for the fun and teamwork involved.
