Catholic Schools Week has been in full swing at Sacred Heart Catholic School, and if you’ve been following along on social media, you already know—this has been one phenomenal week.

Principal Troy Langdon, along with students Kamil, Quin, and Alley, stopped by the NWKS Radio studios to visit with Joel Navarro and share how Sacred Heart has been celebrating faith, family, and fun all week long. And honestly? It sounds like the kind of school week kids wish would never end.

“Our Version of Homecoming Week”

Principal Langdon summed it up perfectly on air—Catholic Schools Week is kind of like Sacred Heart’s homecoming week. It’s a chance to celebrate faith, highlight what makes Catholic education special, and bring everyone together.

The week kicked off Sunday with Mass followed by a pizza party (already off to a strong start), and then the students headed to a Colby Community College basketball game where Sacred Heart students even sang the National Anthem. From there, the fun just kept rolling.

Highlights from the Week

Each day brought something new—and something memorable:

  • Sunday: Community kickoff with Sunday Mass and pizza

  • Sacred Heart Day at CCC: Students attended the basketball games and sang the National Anthem

  • Monday: Breakfast and Bingo with grandparents and parents, classroom visits, and Mass together

  • Tuesday: Duplicate or Triplicate Disciples Day (matching outfits everywhere!) plus an all-school Rock-Paper-Scissors showdown

  • Wednesday: Anything-But-a-Backpack Day (yes, creativity was on full display)

  • Thursday: A joint school day in Oakley with Mass, games, food, and even Mass with the Bishop

  • Friday: Comfy for Christ Day, wrapping up with a student vs. parents and teachers Catholic trivia contest—with Father Brian and Father Gruber as “phone-a-friends”

According to the students, favorites included Bingo (even if you didn’t win), spending time with grandparents, and of course, the upcoming trivia competition—which they’re very confident about.

More Than Fun—It’s About Giving Back

Along with the celebrations, Sacred Heart students are also participating in the Pack and Play Challenge, collecting spare change, cash, diapers, and baby supplies for Open Arms Resources. Baby bottles and even a bassinet have been set up to help support local families—just another example of Sacred Heart putting faith into action.

A Small School Doing Big Things

Principal Langdon, who moved to Colby from Denver, shared how impressed he’s been by the Sacred Heart community—from the students and staff to the parents and supporters.

“It’s like family,” he said, and after hearing about this week, it’s hard to argue with that.

Catholic Schools Week runs January 25–30, but the spirit of Sacred Heart School is something the Colby community gets to see all year long.

Faith, learning, service, and a whole lot of joy....now that’s something worth celebrating.
