Cheylin Blows Through Golden Plains with Dominant Offensive Performance

The Golden Plains Bulldogs and the Cheylin Cougars both came into Friday's game confident after week 1 wins, but the Cougars were too much to handle for the Bulldogs, as a strong start and consistent finish led to an early decision in the third quarter 58-12 in favor of Cheylin.

The first quarter started out all Cougars, as it took just three plays offensively for Andrew Mitchell to find the endzone from 37 yards out as well as Pablo Ruiz going 39 yards for a score. On the ensuing drive, a punt by the Bulldogs was blocked and returned for a touchdown by Kohen Pochop, giving Cheylin an early 22-0 lead.

Golden Plains wouldn't bow down just yet, as they take advantage of a costly penalty by the Cougars and pass for a touchdown of 24 yards from Ruxin Arnberger to Conner Kier. A second rushing touchdown for Cheylin's Mitchell would be added to the score sheet from 43 yards out, giving us the first quarter score of 28-6.

The action didn't stop there, as two more scores would be put on the board for the Cougars, one coming from Mitchell again, the other a passing touchdown from Landon Hendricks to Pochop. The Bulldogs would put up another score as well, a rushing touchdown from Adam Ritter. Heading into the halftime locker room, it was Cheylin with the huge lead 44-12.

The third quarter rolled around and it was all Cougars, finishing off the game with two more scores, both coming from Andrew Wright. The first was a pick-six after intercepting Arnberger, and the last score was a 29 yard passing touchdown from Hendricks to Wright. After those scores, this gave us the final score of 58-12.

Standout performances from the Cheylin Cougars included Andrew Mitchell with 7 carries for 162 yards and 3 touchdowns, Pablo Ruiz with 6 carries for 62 yards and 1 touchdown, Landon Hendricks going 4/9 passing for 86 yards and 2 touchdowns. Also shoutout to Andrew Wright for a 29 yard receiving touchdown and a pick-six in the fourth quarter and Kohen Pochop with the blocked punt for a touchdown.

Performances on the Golden Plains side included Ruxin Arnberger going 14/31 in the air with 1 touchdown and Conner Kier with 4 receptions for 66 yards and 1 receiving touchdown.
