Citizens Health Joins the Masonic Cancer Alliance

Colby, Kan. (March 31, 2025) — Citizens Health recently joined the Masonic Cancer Alliance (MCA), the outreach network of The University of Kansas Cancer Center, as a Community Partner.

The MCA is a membership-based organization formed in 2008 to advance the quality and reach of cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, and survivorship in the Heartland. Originally called the Midwest Cancer Alliance, the name change to Masonic Cancer Alliance resulted from a generous gift from the Kansas Masons. The MCA links hospitals and health care partners across Kansas and western Missouri to scientists and clinicians at KU Cancer Center. It also provides its network with access to clinical trials, professional education, patient navigation services, and outreach opportunities.

Benefits of MCA membership will enable Citizens Health to offer more to local residents

diagnosed with cancer:

  • expanded prevention activities, including cancer screenings;

  • survivorship programs to strengthen the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of individuals and their families working through cancer;

  • access to second opinions on cancer diagnoses; and

  • enhanced training opportunities for oncology professionals.

“Our goal is to make sure Kansans can access the latest advancements in cancer prevention and care close to home,” said Gary Doolittle, MD, medical director of the MCA.

“Citizens Health shares this goal, and through their membership in the MCA, many of these advancements will now be available to individuals living in and around Colby.”

“By joining the Masonic Cancer Alliance, Citizens Health strengthens its commitment to

bringing cutting-edge cancer care and support to Northwest Kansas,” said Jenny Niblock,

APRN, DNP, MBA, chief clinical officer at Citizens Health. “With expanded prevention activities, survivorship programs, and access to second opinions, we can ensure that residents of Colby and surrounding areas receive the best in cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment close to home.”
