Community Forum for USD 315 School Board Candidates Set for July 15

NWKS Radio to Stream Live on Facebook at 7 PM

NWKS Radio will host and live stream a special moderated forum for the USD 315 School Board candidates on Tuesday, July 15 at 7:00 PM on the NWKS Radio Facebook page. This public event is being hosted at Pioneer Memorial Library and is a chance for voters in Colby and Thomas County to hear directly from the candidates seeking a seat on the USD 315 Board of Education.

With three board positions up for election, currently held by Larry Gabel (member since 2018), Kristina Lemman (member since 2013 and current board president), and Brandi Wark (member since 2018), this forum gives the community an important opportunity to learn more about the individuals running to help guide the future of local schools.

The following ten candidates have filed to run and will appear at the forum:

* Dan Kuhlman

* Daniel Blake

* Angelica Stieben

* Kami Booi

* Joshua Cersovsky

* Teri Burvee

* Chris Donelan

* Mike Hamilton

* Lisa McCarty

* Michael Juenemann

Due to the high number of candidates, the Thomas County Clerk has confirmed that a primary election will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. According to Kansas state statute 25-2021(b), a primary is required when more than three times the number of candidates file than positions available. In this case, the top six vote-getters from the primary will advance to the November general election.

Colby Public Schools, USD 315, expressed excitement at the high level of community engagement, stating:

“It’s great to see so many people in our community interested in joining the school board! Having passionate individuals step up shows how much we all care about our schools and students.”

USD 315, based in Colby, serves more than 900 students from pre-K through 12th grade and employs over 150 staff members. The current board members who will continue their terms are Shelby Barnett, Tricia Carney, Tracy Rogers, and Missy Siruta.

Can’t Make It in Person?

No problem. The entire forum will be streamed live on NWKS Radio’s Facebook page, and the video will remain available for those who want to watch later.
