Get your engines revved and your spirit of adventure ready—Oakley is about to host a historic and heart-pumping celebration! Paul Heskett recently sat down with Alan Suter of the Tri-County Cruisers to chat about the 20th Anniversary Cruise-In-and-Car Show, and here’s the inside scoop on the festivities!
A Look Back: Two Decades of Cruisin’
Celebrating twenty years since the inaugural 2005 Cruise-In-and-Car Show, the Tri-County Cruisers have grown into a powerhouse of community and automotive passion in Oakley. “My goodness, we’ve grown,” Alan exclaimed, proud of the legacy built by a dedicated group of volunteers. Their collective spirit and commitment have made the event a staple on Oakley’s Main Street, drawing car enthusiasts and families alike year after year.
Friday Night: Kicking Off the Celebration
The fun kicks off this Friday evening, and here’s what to expect:
5:00 PM: The celebration begins on Main Street! Parking is arranged on Main Street for the event, where cars will be temporarily blocked off for a festive evening.
Supper & Registration: Church ladies will be on hand serving up a delicious supper while a registration table hands out cool t-shirts, door prizes, and more.
8:00 PM – Dragging Main: Around eight o’clock, the real action begins. The procession—fondly referred to as “Dragging Main” in nostalgic nods to the old days—sets off down Main Street, cruising past local landmarks like the Long-Term Care Center. It’s a throwback to the good old days when community spirit hit the road in style!
Saturday: Show & Shine Extravaganza
For those who can’t get enough, Saturday promises even more excitement:
9:00 AM Registration: Start your day right by registering at the show and shine event held at Annie Oakley Park.
Family Fun: Enjoy donuts, refreshing beverages, and free swimming—perfect for a warm summer morning.
Live Music & Activities: With tunes filling the air, Saturday’s lineup features door prizes, a 50-50 draw, and the much-anticipated “Hack Attack Car Cut”—an event sure to draw a lively crowd and spark plenty of conversations.
As Alan mentioned, the activities will keep revving up the energy. “You get prizes and experiences that celebrate our community and our love for cars,” he said, encouraging everyone to visit OakleyKS.com for more details.
