It was a lively early afternoon at the NWKS Radio studios on Range Avenue as rising country artist Dallas Pryor joined Kristina live on FlyOver Country 97.9.
Dallas, who’s been making waves in the Texas/Red Dirt country scene, was all smiles as he rolled into Colby, calling it a familiar town he’s glad to stop in. “I’m absolutely stoked to be here,” he said. “It’s fun to be back in a familiar place.”

The Kansas native shared stories about growing up between Topeka and Abilene, first picking up a guitar while serving in the Marine Corps, and how persistence (and a really solid G chord) helped him grow into the artist he is today.
Many fans know Dallas as the former front man of the Lazy Wayne Band—a name he helped create before stepping into his own spotlight as a solo artist. The band carries on under that name, while Dallas is now performing and recording under his own.
He talked about his journey to Nashville, where he recorded in legendary studios that have hosted everyone from Dierks Bentley to Chris Stapleton. “I walked into the booth and they handed me a beat-up J45 guitar and said, ‘This is the one Stapleton used with the SteelDrivers.’ I was like—shut up! That’s so cool,” Dallas laughed.

On-air, Dallas treated listeners to a sneak peek of an upcoming single, “The Next New Man,” which will hit streaming platforms and local radio soon. He described it as “about getting loved and left like a sack of potatoes and then moved on right to the next one.”
Dallas has been keeping busy with a packed summer of shows, from sharing the stage with Miranda Lambert at Country Stampede to playing alongside Joe Nichols and Wyatt Flores. He’s got plenty more ahead, including stops in Wichita, Wakefield, Topeka, and Manhattan for Purple Power Play.
When asked about life on the road, Dallas admitted it’s a lot of work but worth every mile. “It might be running me ragged, but I’m doing what I love and I can’t trade it for nothing.”
Before leaving, he promised he’ll be back. “This is not the last time you’ll hear from me here,” he told Kristina. “I’ve got new songs coming out every couple of months, and I’ll be back on radio tour this winter.”
