I recently had the pleasure of chatting with Michaela, the business manager at the Prairie Museum of Art and History, about a fantastic initiative that’s happening in our community—the **Thomas County History Hunt**!
What’s the History Hunt All About?
Michaela explained, this year marks the **65th anniversary** of the Thomas County Historical Society, and to celebrate this milestone, they’ve organized a special history hunt. The idea is to encourage residents and visitors alike to explore the diverse corners of Thomas County, discovering hidden gems and learning about the area’s rich history. It’s a fun way to engage with our community and experience locations you might not usually visit.
How to Get Involved
So, how can you join in on the fun? It’s simple! You can pick up a booklet at the museum or download a PDF version from their website. This booklet serves as your guide, breaking down the history hunt by each town. It includes trivia questions—ranging from one to nine per location, with Colby having the most—and prompts you to take selfies at various historical sites. How fun is that?
What’s in It for You?
Completing the history hunt isn’t just about the adventure; there are prizes involved! Once you’ve finished the booklet, return it to the museum to receive a special prize and be entered into a drawing for first, second, and third place. It’s a great incentive to explore and learn!
Mark Your Calendars
The history hunt runs until **October 31st**, so there’s plenty of time to gather your friends or family and embark on this exciting journey through Thomas County. Whether you grab a buddy or go solo, it’s an excellent opportunity to learn more about our area’s history while having a blast.
Need More Information?
If you have any questions or need further details, Michaela invites you to reach out. You can email them at **business@prairiemuseum.org** or call **785-460-4590**.
So, are you ready to dive into Thomas County’s history? I think I might just convince Joel to join me on this adventure! Grab your booklet, explore our community, and don’t forget to take those selfies!
Happy hunting, everyone!
