Wallace County emergency crews were kept busy early Monday morning, October 20, 2025, responding to two separate crashes within just a few hours.
The first accident occurred shortly after midnight on County Road 6, approximately 2.2 miles south of Highway 40 or just north of the intersection with Jackrabbit Road.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log, a 2018 Freightliner truck driven by 34-year-old Jacob Spence of Park, Kansas, was traveling southbound on County Road 6 when it entered the east ditch. Spence attempted to steer the truck back onto the roadway, but due to the steep incline of the ditch, the vehicle overturned.
Spence, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported to Keefe Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The Freightliner was hauling a grain trailer at the time of the crash and was insured through Crestbrook.
This wreck marked the first of two crashes in Wallace County that morning. Just two hours later, emergency responders were called out again to a rollover on K-27 north of Sharon Springs, involving a Texas man injured when his pickup went airborne and rolled.
Both incidents kept Wallace County emergency personnel busy throughout the early morning hours, underscoring the dedication of local first responders who continue to serve around the clock.
