☀️ Safety First: Red Cross Offers Life-Saving Heat Tips

The American Red Cross of Greater Kansas has issued important guidance as the region prepares for a moderate to major heat risk from Friday through the weekend.

You can find even more tools and tips at their new site: redcross.org/HeatCheck

Here are three critical actions they urge everyone to take:

  1. Stay Hydrated 💧Drink a cup of water every hour, even if you’re not thirsty. Avoid sugary, caffeinated, or alcoholic drinks.

  2. Stay Cool 🧊Seek air-conditioned spaces. If your home is too hot, visit a library, mall, or designated cooling center.

  3. Stay Connected 📞Check on neighbors, especially the elderly and vulnerable. Make sure pets have access to water and shade.

“Knowing what to do to protect yourself and loved ones from extreme heat can save lives,” said Jane Blocher, Executive Director of the Red Cross of Greater Kansas.
