Delivering Gratitude: NWKS Radio & Vap Construction Surprise a Deserving Family With a Thanksgiving Feast

Today was one of those days that reminds us exactly why this tradition matters.

As part of our annual Thanksgiving Feast Giveaway, NWKS Radio’s Chad Jones and Addison Stoddard loaded up the groceries—everything needed for a full holiday meal—and delivered them straight to the doorstep of one nominated Colby family. The bags were packed with all the classics: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, rolls, green bean casserole fixings, a veggie tray, pies, and all the little touches that make Thanksgiving feel like home.

But the food is only part of the story.

A Family Chosen for Their Heart

This year, more than 15 families were nominated—each one incredibly deserving, and each story a reminder of the quiet strength that runs through Northwest Kansas. But one nomination stood out.

The family selected is a staple in the Colby community, known for giving generously of their time, energy, and kindness over the years. They’ve supported countless others, often without recognition, and now they’re facing significant health challenges of their own.

Their nominator put it simply: “They deserve a whole lot of thanks.”

A Delivery Filled With Emotion

When Chad and Addison arrived with armfuls of groceries, the reaction was immediate and heartfelt. The family was overwhelmed with gratitude—so much so that tears filled their eyes. It was a powerful reminder that sometimes the greatest gift you can give someone isn’t just food…it’s the feeling of being seen, appreciated, and supported by their community.

Continuing a Tradition Rooted in Kindness

This delivery is part of a larger partnership between NWKS Radio and Vap Construction. Both teams personally shop for the ingredients and hand-deliver meals—NWKS Radio in Colby and Vap Construction in Atwood. It’s a tradition built on compassion and neighbor-to-neighbor care.

And this year’s response showed just how much our region cares. Every nomination came from someone who took the time to lift up a family that means something to them—whether they’re going through a tough season or have spent years pouring into others.
