It was another edition of Foundation Friday on the Good Neighbor Hour, so host Lucas Kenney invited Kerri Traynor of the Logan County Community Foundation to talk about what's been happening for their foundation.

First and foremost, Traynor was asked how the summer has treated them over in Logan County. The first thing she mentioned was a Legacy and Succession planning dinner with their local attorney Abraham Pfannenstiel. She said they had a lot of great feedback from this event, so they look forward to hosting another one soon.

The next thing she noted was a Leadership Workshop they have coming up on Wednesday, August 5th.

"We're also really excited to host a leadership workshop...and there's still time to register for that. So, if there's anyone who wants to take part in growing their leadership skills, we would love to have you come join us."

Grants are a huge part in what community foundations do, whether that's helping others apply for grants or granting some of their own. Regarding the ladder, Traynor mentioned that over the seven months in 2026, they have granted $46,700 to local entities. Some of those included Annie Oakley 4-H, Western Vista Historic Byway, Oakley Public Library, USD 274, Kansas Legal Services, and others.

Funds are another big topic for community foundations, and recently, they have had three new great funds created. Here are a list and description of those funds from Traynor.

The Youth Pathways & Prosperity Fund is designed to help young people prosper by supporting financial literacy, educational opportunities, and youth entrepreneurship training and career development for students and young people across our region.
The Logan County Job & Growth Engine Fund is available to help strengthen local businesses, encourage entrepreneurship, and help attract and retain jobs throughout Logan County and the surrounding area.
The Logan County Health Services Designated Fund has been created to support the ongoing and evolving needs of Logan County Health Services, like the new hospital project and new services that are being brought in.

Last but not least, Traynor wanted to talk about an upcoming match day that the LCCF has coming up on October 1st. Those in the area should look forward to that date and give to a great fund, which will then be matched by the foundation to double the amount of money given.
