Goodland High School to Present Disney’s Frozen This Weekend

Student cast shares memories, laughs, and behind-the-scenes stories on the Good Neighbor Hour

Goodland High School is about to turn the auditorium into a snowy kingdom as the GHS Music Department proudly presents Disney’s Frozen on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. The cast joined Rollie Halligan on the Good Neighbor Hour to talk about the show, their characters, and all the work that’s gone into bringing Arendelle to life.

Directed by Randy Berls, with assistant director Jillian Cordy, this year’s production includes more than 50 students on stage and nearly 70 total participants when you count the backstage crews, makeup team, lights, sound, and special effects.

And yes… there will be very cool lighting and special effects this year. The cast promised it.

Meet the Main Cast

All seniors, the featured students who joined Rollie included:

Hope Biermann

Plays: Anna

Hope’s been in GHS musicals since 7th grade. She’s busy in volleyball, basketball, track, NHS, GAA, math relays, and more. She also carries the heaviest line load in the show. “There are a couple scenes that are rough, but we’ll get there,” she laughed.

Katelynn Hill

Plays: Elsa

Katelynn is one of two Elsas this year. She performs Friday night, with the other Elsa, Karrin Newman, performing Saturday. Sunday will be a special blend of both. She’s involved in cheer, basketball, tennis, dance, FFA, band, and choir. She says the week leading up to musical is always the funniest, purely because everyone is tired and everything becomes hilarious.

Trent Sheldon

Plays: Kristoff

A multi-sport senior and golf fanatic, Trent says his favorite part of musical is the friendships. “You’re with these people every night. You really get to know everyone.” He performed as last year’s villain and said being the bad guy was actually easier, but he’s ready to take on Kristoff.

Jackson Emig

Plays: Hans

Jackson’s done multiple roles through the years and says musical brings students together who might never have otherwise crossed paths. He also admits to being packed into more than one overloaded vehicle on late-night Sonic runs with the cast.

Isaiah Douglas

Plays: Olaf & The Duke of Weselton

Isaiah’s a veteran of six musicals and still working to perfect “a couple” of his lines. His favorite memories include technical chaos, unexpected mistakes, and watching Trent “cry like a baby” in the makeup chair.

A Musical Built on Teamwork

The cast credits this year’s production to a huge, hard-working crew:

  • Special effects: Lauren Linton, McKenna Schick

  • Lights: Liz Sheldon

  • Sound: Zane Brigham, Canon Newman

  • Backstage & makeup crews: Dozens of students

  • Elementary performers: Several 3rd-grade students join the cast this year

Students have been rehearsing since late August, often meeting from 7 to 9:30 p.m., then hanging out after rehearsals, swapping stories, or packing way too many friends into one pickup for snacks. They’ll also perform selected scenes for West Elementary and North Elementary next Wednesday.

The full show runs 2 hours and 40 minutes with an intermission.

Years of Memories

From COVID-era livestream musicals to falling onstage, forgotten props, and cast members sprinting through costume changes, each senior shared a favorite moment from their six-year journey. Whether they were white rabbits, cowboys, escape artists, villains, or comic relief, each performer agreed the friendships and late-night hangouts are what they’ll remember most.

As Hope put it:

“You’ll remember this the rest of your life. It’s a hoot.”

Don’t Miss It

The cast hopes for a packed auditorium each night as they bring one of Disney’s most beloved stories to life. With huge musical numbers, special effects, skilled student performers, and brand-new stage magic, Frozen promises to be one of the biggest GHS productions yet.

Bundle up, Arendelle is blowing into town this weekend.
