Guardrail improvement project to start on K-25 in Rawlins County

The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin work on a guardrail improvement project along a portion of K-25 in Rawlins County on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Project work will involve grading and guardrail replacement at 18 sites on K-25 between the U.S. 36 junction in Atwood and Nebraska state line. Work will begin on structures located approximately 7.75 miles north of Atwood. Traffic will be reduced to one lane and directed by a temporary traffic signal for approximately three weeks. The signal operation will then move to a location one half mile south of the Nebraska state line for an additional two weeks.

Traffic through all other worksites will be reduced to one lane directed by flaggers as needed. Motorists should plan for delays of up to 15 minutes during daylight hours.

KDOT expects the project to be completed in November, conditions permitting.

L&M Contractors, of Great Bend, is the primary contractor for the $1.2 million project. For more information, contact KDOT Area Construction Manager Todd Anderson at 785-953-6011 or todd.anderson@ks.gov.
