Oakley, KS — Hunters, outdoor enthusiasts, and families from across the region are invited to gather in Oakley on Sunday, September 14, 2025, for Guns, Grit & Gratitude—a powerful day of fellowship, outdoor fun, and storytelling in memory of Cale Evins.

The event is hosted by the Cale Evins Memorial Fund and will feature two major activities: the Cale Evins Memorial Sporting Clays Shoot and an evening dinner program with YouTube star Billy Molls, known nationwide as the “Modern Day Mountain Man.”

The day kicks off next to the Buffalo Bill Cultural Center with a 10-station sporting clays course, set up by Linden Sports of McPherson, Kansas. Shooting runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with participants required to start the course by 3 p.m. An optional three-person flurry event will also be offered for extra fun.

In the evening, guests will return to the Buffalo Bill Cultural Center for a catered dinner and inspiring program. The evening begins with fellowship at 5 p.m., followed by a catered dinner at 6 p.m., and then a live talk with Billy Molls.

Molls has spent more than 25 years guiding hunters through the rugged wilderness of Alaska. His adventures include breathtaking hunts, encounters with grizzly bears, and lessons in survival. Today, he also shares a powerful testimony of faith, recounting how his time in the wild strengthened his relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • Tickets: $30 for ages 13 & up

  • Kids 12 & under: Free (but must reserve a $0 ticket for seating)

A Legacy of Love and Support for Youth

The fundraiser benefits the Cale Evins Memorial Fund, created in memory of Cale Evins of Oakley, who passed away in 2019. The fund provides scholarships and supports youth-centered initiatives throughout northwest Kansas.

“This is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a chance for outdoor enthusiasts and families to enjoy a fun day and honor Cale’s memory in a way that benefits local youth,” said Cale’s father, J.L. Evins. “We are also excited to hear Billy Molls’ firsthand stories of wilderness adventures and his testimony of how his experiences strengthened his faith and led him to Jesus Christ.”

The event is organized by J.L. and Carrie Evins, along with family friends Matt and Misty Mildenberger, all of Oakley.
