Colby senior Guy Tubbs has decided on his next chapter, he will be heading down I-70 to attend Fort Hays State University. There he will be attending classes for Entrepreneurship and Construction Management. While attending class, he will also be competing in Track and Field for the Tigers.

Tubbs will be graduating this coming spring from Colby High School, where he is expecting to finish his high school career with a 3.98 GPA. While at CHS, he enjoyed most of his time staying active in the strength training and condition class, mostly because he gets to focus on his needs while being around friends.
His favorite instructor is the science teach Mrs. Bohme; Tubbs has taken several of her classes and is very grateful for her help. She challenges Tubbs in class, and she’s become an anchor for his learning experience.
While there are so many memories of his high school career, his best memories are a toss-up between the 2022-23 basketball season when the team made it to the state tournament, or last year when he was able to earn a state title in throwing the javelin.
Tubbs has been known for more than just basketball and track, he was also an integral part of the Football team, he’s been a member of National Honors Society, and is very proud of his involvement with his youth group from the Levant Community Church. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, lifting, and spending time with his loved ones, but he’s partial to outdoor activities regardless of the season.

For his sports career, Tubbs has recorded 651 receiving yards, 35 receptions, and 57 tackles in his football career. For Basketball, he recently passed 1150 points, 650 rebounds with game highs of 39 points, and 19 rebounds. He was part of the 20-win state basketball team and has been selected to the All-state first team once in football. He’s been selected to the All-state 2nd team once and is hoping to find his way on the first team this year.

Tubbs currently holds the high jump and javelin record for Colby Middle School at 5’11” and 154’, and he holds the high school weighted javelin record at 186’5” while competing in jumps and sprints for the track team.
“My favorite coach would have to be Easton Slipke or Parker Mckee. They both had a huge influence on my playing career in basketball, and I have so much respect for them both,” said Tubbs.
Born to Lucas and Jada Tubbs, Guy will be leaving his childhood home where he grew up with Liv, Fia, and Von to pursue his dreams. “I am a firm believer that Christ our Savior, died for our sins and that anyone who believes in him will have an everlasting life,” said Guy
Relying on his strong Christian beliefs, he plans to settle down in Kansas in the next 10-20 years. He wants to build his own construction company building modern homes and to be married with children.
