An injury crash was reported Sunday morning in Gove County along Interstate 70.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 10:38 a.m. on April 5th on westbound I-70 near milepost 83, about 0.8 miles east of County Road 22.
Investigators say a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by 26-year-old Cheyenne Jackson of Aurora, Colorado, was traveling westbound when it veered into the median. After returning to the roadway, the driver overcorrected into the right lane, sideswiping a semi-truck. The vehicle then overcorrected again, crossed back into the median, struck a guardrail, and rolled. The SUV came to rest on the south shoulder of the eastbound lanes.
Jackson was transported to Oakley Hospital with suspected minor injuries.
Two young passengers in the vehicle, ages 3 and 4, were properly restrained and were not injured.
The second vehicle involved, a 2023 Freightliner semi driven by 36-year-old Heather Boyd of Monett, Missouri, was hauling a trailer at the time of the crash. The driver was not injured.
All occupants involved were reported to be wearing safety restraints.
The crash remains under investigation by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
