The Goodland City Commissioners met on Monday, June 15th, for a regular meeting. Goodland City Manager Kent Brown joined the Good Neighbor Hour to recap important items from that meeting.
Firstly, Brown talked about the audit report which was the first item up on the agenda.
"That's the first thing that was done. It was a clean audit for last year, 2025."
Next, he noted a public hearing and a resolution that was passed in succession to the hearing. These two were in regard to new taxable and industrial revenue bonds for Golden Waves Grain.
"The grain mill and commercial bakery will be built out in industrial park. That's $225 million, so that's a big project out there."
Brown also mentioned a crew that will come in and do some restoration to the waterpark slides after the pool season is over. This will be some resurfacing and polishing of the water slides.
One of the biggest items on the agenda was a follow up with Prime Craftsman Homes after a meeting last Monday, June 8th. After meeting with them again, an agreement was made to start looking at costs for a new housing project on the North and West side of Topside Manor in Goodland.
"We'll see how that goes. There's a long process ahead, but they had a good initial reaction, so we'll see what it will take to get some of the engineering and planning done."
The last items of the meeting all had to do with the budget for next year. City Manager Brown also mentioned that a lot of items for the next meetings will be in regard to budget planning.
The next regular meeting for the Goodland City Commissioners will be Monday, July 6th.
You can listen to the Good Neighbor Hour weekday mornings from 6-7 am Mountain on Rockit 102.5 KLOE.
