Why did the turtle cross the road? To get where they need to be!
It's that time of year again when you may see a turtle crossing the road. Late Spring and early Summer are prime time for turtles to be moving back and forth from nesting and feeding areas.
When coming across a turtle crossing the road, there are a few things that you can do. Here are a few reminders from the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.
If you see a turtle crossing:
Slow down when it's safe to do so
Help it across in the direction it's already traveling
Never relocate it to a new area
These turtles have spent a long time living out in the wild, so let's just help them along their way. They know what they're doing!
