KISS Dance Brings Smiles, Music, and Memories to Colby

An afternoon full of laughter, dancing, and special moments filled the City Limits Convention Center on Sunday, April 19th as families gathered for the second annual KISS Dance, Kids Invite Someone Special.

Held from 2 to 4 pm, the event gave kids the chance to bring a parent, grandparent, or

another special person in their life out on the dance floor. From the moment the music started, it was clear this wasn’t just another dance. It was about connection, smiles, and memories that will last long after the music faded.

The venue was already dressed to impress, thanks to the Colby High School Prom held the night before. With an “Under the Stars” theme, the decorations created the perfect magical backdrop for Sunday’s event. City Limits Convention Center graciously allowed everything to remain in place, giving the KISS Dance a prom-quality atmosphere.

Music for the afternoon was handled by NWKS Radio's GM, Chad Jones, spinning kid-friendly favorites that kept the dance floor packed. Meanwhile, Morning host on 100.3 The Ride, Joel Navarro, and Howard from MC Entertainment kept the energy going at the photo booth, which was a huge hit. Kids lined up to grab fun props, strike silly poses, and take home photo strips as keepsakes from the day.

Snacks and refreshments were provided by Goodies and Things, giving everyone a chance to refuel between dance moves.

Behind the scenes, a group of dedicated sophomore students, under the guidance of Mrs. Mary Beth Flanagin, helped make the event run smoothly. They collected admission at the door, led group dances, and even stayed after to help tear everything down. All proceeds from the event went toward the CHS Prom 2027, making it a fun and meaningful fundraiser.

What made the day even more special was the community effort behind it. Everyone involved donated their time, from the DJs to the organizers to the students, all coming together to create something memorable for local families.

NWKS Radio staff, Addison Stoddard, Lucas Kenney, and Kristina, even got in on the fun, snapping “professional” photos at the prom backdrop and stepping out onto the dance floor themselves.

Kids and their special guests came dressed to impress, ready to dance and enjoy the afternoon together. And judging by the smiles, laughter, and full dance floor, it was well worth giving up a Sunday afternoon.

In the end, the KISS Dance once again proved that sometimes the simplest idea, spending time with someone special, can create the biggest moments.
