Lori Jean Andersen, 73, of Colby, KS died Thursday, March 26, 2026. She was born in Racine, Wisconsin on October 15, 1952, to Elmo and Evelyn (Rasmussen) Andersen.

Her dad’s many jobs and location changes inspired her to love seeing new places. Her early years were spent in Lake Worth, FL, Brookhaven, MS, Minneapolis, MN, Winona, MN and several locations in southern California. Lori was a social butterfly who made friends easily and found her calling in the hospitality industry. She worked in casinos in Reno and Lake Tahoe. In 2000 she found a home in Colby, where she worked at the Comfort Inn for the next 20 years. Lori had a warm and friendly nature which earned her many close friends. She enjoyed talking to people, bowling and gardening. Lori dearly loved all animals and was caretaker to the birds and squirrels outside her apartment. She was the family holiday planner, always bringing everyone together. She was beloved by her sons, her grandchildren, her siblings and her many cherished friends.

Lori was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sons, Joe Hammers (Mohawk, TN) and Earl Brainard (Monument, KS) and her siblings, Steve Andersen (Minneapolis, MN), Tom Andersen (Lancaster, CA) and Joy Deming (Solvang, CA) and former spouse Larry Louis.
